WEB GEMS- Bot 2nd: Mike Griffin robbed Perry Werden of a Homerun!

Art Herman allowed Fred Clarke to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as
the Louisville Colonels staged a dramatic comeback over the Brooklyn
Bridegrooms by a score of 7 to 6 at Eclipse Park.

Louisville had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring
2 runs. Charlie Dexter started the inning off right when he drew a walk.
Billy Clingman followed and he reached on an error. One out later, Clarke
was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Tom McCreery was up next and he
ripped a single which scored a run. Dan Daub then threw a pitch that got
away from the catcher giving Louisville the win and sending the home town
fans into a frenzy. A wild affair, this game saw the lead change 6 times.

Herman(2-0) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 6 runs. Daub(2-4)
ended up with the loss. He gave up 7 runs and 10 hits in 8 and 2/3 innings.

Clarke was ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard fought game
like that. Our guys just weren't going to be denied. And did you see the
fans - they were going wild! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win this afternoon!'
