First baseman Hal Chase had 2 base hits and Bob Spade was able to finish what
he started and was credited with a complete game as the Philadelphia-NL
Phillies defeated the Detroit Tigers by the score of 5 to 3 at Bennett
Park.

In the top of the 4th inning Philadelphia-NL went on top for good plating one
baserunner utilizing 2 base hits. Joe Tinker slapped a single. Tinker then
stole second base. Two outs later Red Ames came up and he let a pitch get
away from him. Chase followed next and he stroked a base-hit scoring the
run. Philadelphia-NL finished with 11 hits in the victory.

The victory went to Spade(3-3) who went the distance allowing 3 runs.
Ames(0-3) took the loss. He gave up 9 hits and 4 walks in 7 innings.

'It felt really nice to get this win,' Spade said. 'I kind of dictated the
game. It's what I get paid to do. It worked out this time.'
