Duke Snider blasted 2 homeruns as the Chicago-NL Cubs defeated the Brooklyn
Dodgers by a score of 12 to 7 at Wrigely Field.

Snider enjoyed a great day at the plate. Every time he came up in the latter
innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering. He hit a 'grand salami' to
the delight of his teammates in the 3rd inning, laced a one-base hit
resulting in a run in the 6th inning and clubbed a two-run home run in the
8th inning. Brooklyn was not lacking for run support as they scored in 6
separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed to forget that
pitching is also needed to win ballgames.

The win was credited to Bill Wight(4-2) who went 6 innings allowing 5 runs.
Leo Kiely recorded his 2nd save. Ray Moore(3-1) was given the loss in
relief.

'I had good swings today,' Snider said, 'Everything felt right'.
