Neither pitching staff had allowed a run after the regulation nine innings. St. Louis won the game in the 13th inning. Joe Quinn laced a base-hit. Emmett Seery dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. After another out, Fred Dunlap then lined a single, and an error was also committed, resulting in a mighty exciting win for St. Louis and the 977 home town fans in attendance. St. Louis rapped out 8 hits for the afternoon. Sweeney(4-3) went the distance for the shutout. Tim Keefe(5-3) was given the loss in relief. It was a tough loss for him as he did not allow an earned run in his 3 and 2/3 innings of work. 'Sweeney gave us exactly what we needed today.' Gus Schmelz said. 'When he threw the fastball he threw it for strikes. They were really fooled by his change. Most of the time he had them chasing it.'
