Eddie Plank retired 10 batters on strikeouts at West Side Park where the
Chicago-NL Cubs beat the Brooklyn Dodgers by the score of 8 to 5.

Chief Wilson provided much of the offense. He slapped a single in the 4th
inning, rifled a three-run blast in the 5th inning and lined a base-hit in
the 7th inning. Although they lost, Brooklyn did out-hit Chicago-NL 14 to 8.

Plank(2-5), allowing 5 runs for the game, picked up the victory. George
Suggs(2-3) was charged with the loss. He allowed Chicago-NL 6 runs in 5
innings of work.

The Chicago-NL fans were thrilled by the performance put forth by Plank, but
it was clearly his strikeouts that they enjoyed most. 'When he reached 10
strikeouts the fans showed him their appreciation with a loud cheer.' Lee
Palmer said following the game.
