Walter Johnson mowed down 13 Detroit batters and Danny Moeller had 3 base hits
as the Washington Nationals topped the Detroit Tigers by a score of 4 to 2 at
Griffith Stadium.

Johnson(8-1) gave Washington a solid outing. He was stingy on the mound,
allowing just 6 hits and 6 walks in 9 innings. Neither team managed to score
after the 4th inning.

George Mullin(2-6) was the losing pitcher. The Washington fans were thrilled
by the performance put forth by Johnson, but it was clearly his strikeouts
that they enjoyed most. 'When he reached 10 strikeouts the fans showed him
their appreciation with a loud cheer.' Clark Griffith said following the
game.
