Third baseman Home Run Baker collected 2 extra-base hits and had 4 RBI as the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics defeated the Detroit Tigers 9 to 6 at Navin
Field.

Baker enjoyed a big day at the plate.  He doubled bringing in a run in the 1st
inning, tripled bringing home two baserunners in the 2nd inning and slapped a
one-base hit scoring a run in the 5th inning.  Overall Philadelphia-AL
out-hit Detroit 17 to 11.  

The win went to Ray Collins(5-2) who allowed 5 runs in 6 innings. Joe Benz
recorded his 5th save.  Hub Perdue(6-4) ended up with the loss.  He got hit
hard, allowing 14 hits and 4 walks in 7 innings.
