Pee Wee Reese had 4 hits and scored 3 times at Crosley Field as the Cincinnati
Reds came back dramatically to top the Chicago-NL Cubs by the score of 6 to
4.

Cincinnati won the game with a rally in the 9th inning with 3 runs using 3
hits. Reese led off and started the attack as he laced a base-knock, and an
error was also committed. Hank Bauer followed next and he delivered a single
scoring a one-base hit run. After an out was recorded, Ted Kluszewski then
blasted a two-run home run making Cincinnati the winners and sending the
13,806 fans home happy. Cincinnati out-hit Chicago-NL for the game, 11 hits
to 8.

The victory was credited to Ernie Johnson(1-1) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. Bob Chakales(3-1) was given the loss in relief.

Johnson and Reese were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the great
come from behind victory. As Rob Hickok noted, 'A win like this one can do
wonders for a team's attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the fans, the
players - even you guys - it's better than winning by a dozen runs!'
