Walter Thornton had 2 base hits at West Side Park where the Chicago Orphans
beat the Washington Senators in 17 innings 4 to 3.

Both teams were tied at 1 runs apiece after nine innings.  Chicago won the
game in the 17th inning.  After an out was recorded, Bill Everitt stroked a
one-base hit, and an error was also committed.  One out later, Bill Dahlen
stepped in and he delivered a base-hit giving Chicago the victory and sending
the 12,480 home-town fans home happy.  Chicago rapped out 18 hits for the
afternoon.  

The victory was credited to Walt Woods(2-0) who went 3 innings, allowing no
runs. Bill Donovan(0-2) absorbed the loss in relief.  He got hit pretty hard,
allowing 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
