Hans Lobert had 2 base hits and Tully Sparks allowed Tim Singer to rest his
bullpen, tossing a complete game at Sportsmans Park as the St. Louis-AL
Browns beat the Boston-AL Americans 4 to 3.

St. Louis-AL scored the winning runs in the 8th inning scoring 2 runs on 2
base hits. Fred Tenney got things going when he slapped a single. After an
out was recorded, Sherry Magee came to bat and reached on an error. Harry
Steinfeldt then reached on an error plating a run. Steinfeldt struck out,
unable to help the rally. Chief Bender then threw a wild pitch scoring the
final run of the inning. Boston-AL made it exciting in the 9th, but they
were unable to push the needed runs across.

The win was credited to Sparks(6-2) who went the whole way allowing 3 runs.
Bender(2-7) was charged with the loss.

Dale Van Leven was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our
guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one.
That is what really ticks me off!'
