In a close game the Detroit Tigers got by the Philadelphia Athletics by the
score of 4 to 2.

In the bottom of the 4th inning Detroit went on top for good plating one
baserunner utilizing 2 base hits.  Philadelphia had 8 hits in the game while
Detroit had 5, but Detroit had the more timely hits.  

The win went to Marc Hall(6-1) who allowed 2 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings. Hall
got help from Carl Zamloch who earned his 2nd save.  Eddie Plank(5-1) was
charged with the loss.  

With this win, Detroit has a 14-20 record.  They have been 5-5 lately.
Philadelphia has a record of 15-14 after the loss.
