George Borchers was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game at West Side Park as the Chicago White Stockings beat the
Philadelphia Quakers 12 to 6.

Philadelphia never recovered after Chicago took the lead in the bottom of the
2nd inning when they came up with 3 runs on 5 hits. The key offensive moment
was provided by Ned Williamson who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch
when he ripped a one-base hit which was good for two runs. Even though they
scored in 5 different innings, Philadelphia was not able to pull off the win.

The victory was credited to Borchers(1-0) who went the distance, allowing 6
runs. Kid Gleason(4-5) was charged with the loss. He was knocked around,
surrendering 12 runs in 8 innings.
