Philadelphia never recovered after Chicago took the lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning when they came up with 3 runs on 5 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Ned Williamson who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he ripped a one-base hit which was good for two runs. Even though they scored in 5 different innings, Philadelphia was not able to pull off the win. The victory was credited to Borchers(1-0) who went the distance, allowing 6 runs. Kid Gleason(4-5) was charged with the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 12 runs in 8 innings.
