Red Ehret had a complete game and catcher Connie Mack had 3 base hits and 3
RBI as the Pittsburg Pirates topped the St. Louis Browns by a score of 9 to 8
at Exposition Park.

In the 2nd inning Pittsburg went on top for good with 3 runs. Mike Smith led
off and started the attack as he reached on an error. Denny Lyons next to
the plate and he was hit by a pitch. Lou Bierbauer then reached on an error
knocking in a run. After an out was recorded, Pink Hawley then fired a sharp
breaking ball that appeared to cross-up the catcher. In any event, it got by
him and was ruled a passed ball scoring another baseruner. Mack stepped into
the box and lined a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. St. Louis
threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.

Ehret(4-2) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 8 runs. Hawley(3-3)
was tagged with the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 12
hits and 2 walks in 8 innings.

'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' Al Buckenberger sighed. 'That win feels like a tall,
cool drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert lately.'
