Billy Shindle had 3 base hits and 5 RBI at Eastern Park as the Brooklyn Grooms
won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Baltimore Orioles by the
count of 16 to 15.

Brooklyn had the winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning plating 3 runs
utilizing 3 base hits. George Treadway led off and keyed the rally when he
ripped a single. Mike Griffin was next and he drew a walk. Shindle then
banged out a single resulting in a run. Two outs later Bill Hawke stepped in
and he threw a pitch that got away from the catcher bringing in another run.
Tom Kinslow stepped into the box and smacked a one-base hit making Brooklyn
the winners and sending the 1,933 fans home happy. Brooklyn bats were hot in
the 7th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 5 hits and the 8th inning with
5 runs on 4 hits. A wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 7
times.

The victory went to Dan Daub(6-2) who went 2/3 of an inning, allowing 5 runs.
Hawke(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief.
