Cy Barger pitched 9 strong innings as the Boston-NL Braves destroyed the New
York-NL Giants by a score of 10 to 0 at Polo Grounds.
Jake Daubert enjoyed a great day at the plate. He stroked a one-base hit in
the 4th inning, tripled bringing in two baserunners in the 7th inning and
belted a three-run homer in the 9th inning. Boston-NL had 14 hits for the
afternoon.
Barger(2-3) was credited with the shutout. Nap Rucker(3-3) was hit with the
loss. He gave up 5 runs and 9 hits in 7 innings.
'I thought it was my best performance in a long time,' said Barger. 'I had
good command early in the game. I had my control and composure and everything
went well.'
