George Mullin allowed Hughie Jennings to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete
game at Bennett Park where the Detroit Tigers beat the Washington Nationals
11 to 6.
Detroit took the lead for keeps in the 6th inning plating 2 runs using 4 hits.
After an out was recorded, Ty Cobb started the rally when he banged out a
single. Cobb got a great jump and stole second easily. Detroit continued
their aggressive style with another stolen base. Sam Crawford stepped in and
he hit a deep fly which plated a run. Jim Delahanty came to the plate and
delivered a single. George Moriarty joined his teammates in the uprising and
stroked a one-base hit. Jack Ness followed next and he lashed a single
scoring the final run of the inning. Detroit finished with 19 hits in the
victory.
Mullin(5-4) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 6 runs. Dolly
Gray(1-4) was hit with the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 17 hits
and 3 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.
