Third baseman Home Run Baker had 4 hits and scored 4 times as the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics crushed the Washington Nationals 14 to 1.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Baker.  He tripled which brought home a run in the 1st inning,
doubled in the 4th inning, tripled in the 6th inning and tripled in the 8th
inning.  Washington was out-hit by Philadelphia-AL, 12 hits to 7.  

The winning pitcher was Ray Collins(4-1) who allowed no runs in 5 innings.
Collins got relief help from Barney Pelty who gained credit for his 2nd save.
Bill Steele(3-3) was hit with the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 12 hits
and 4 walks in 8 innings.
