George Cutshaw collected 2 extra-base hits and scored 3 times at West Side
Park as the Chicago-NL Cubs beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 8 to 6.

Chicago-NL came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 8th
inning with 3 runs utilizing 5 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Cutshaw
was the sparkplug when he doubled.  Jack Lelivelt followed next and he
doubled scoring a run.  Erskine Mayer then was wild with a pitch.  Howard
Shanks followed and he delivered a one-base hit plating another run.  Beals
Becker came up to bat and delivered a single.  Donie Bush added to the
uprising and would ground out scoring the final run of the inning.
Chicago-NL banged out 15 hits on the afternoon.  

The victory was credited to Frank Allen(2-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. Allen got help from Willie Mitchell who earned his 4th save.
Mayer(2-1) was hit with the loss in relief.  He was knocked around,
surrendering 4 runs in 2 innings.  

Chicago-NL now has a record of 14-17. With the loss Pittsburgh now has a
record of 26-17.
