Right fielder Mike McCormick had 3 base hits at Crosley Field where the
Cincinnati Reds beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in 15 innings by the score of 3
to 2.

The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings.  Finally, Cincinnati
pulled the game out in the 15th inning.  Pat Mullin reached on an error.
McCormick next to the plate and he lined a single.  Bob Elliott then drew a
walk to load the bases.  Enos Slaughter followed and he slapped a one-base
hit resulting in an exciting win for Cincinnati and a raucous post-game
celebration by the home town fans.  Cincinnati had a total of 12 hits for the
game.  

Ted Wilks(3-1) got the win allowing no runs in 5 innings. Ewell Blackwell(3-1)
was the losing pitcher in relief.  He was pinned with the loss despite not
allowing an earned run in his 1 inning of work.
