Billy Hoeft didn't allow a hit until the 7th inning and Dick Groat had 4 hits
and scored 4 times at Ebbets Field as the Cleveland Indians belted the
Brooklyn Dodgers by the count of 11 to 1.

Hoeft(1-2) was very good in the win.  He allowed only 3 hits and 5 walks in 8
and 2/3 innings lowering his ERA from 6.00 to 4.55.  The left-handed Hoeft
had his no-hit bid broken up by Andy Carey who singled with one out in the
7th inning.  Overall Cleveland out-hit Brooklyn 15 to 3.  

Bobby Shantz(0-1) ended up with the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 12 hits
and 2 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
