Frank Dwyer completed the game without help from the bullpen and first baseman
Jake Beckley had 3 base hits and 3 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds topped the
Brooklyn Bridegrooms by a score of 9 to 2 at League Park.

Cincinnati jumped on top of Brooklyn in the 5th inning when they tallied 2
runs on 1 hit.  The big moment was provided by Bid McPhee who electrified
League Park when he stroked a one-base hit bringing in two baserunners.
Cincinnati managed 9 hits in their victory.  

The winning pitcher was Dwyer(4-4) who allowed 2 runs for the game. Ralph
Miller(0-2) was charged with the loss.  He was not very effective,
surrendering 9 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings.
