Ed Abbaticchio had 3 base hits as the Washington Nationals defeated the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics in 12 innings by the score of 8 to 7 at Columbia
Park.

The game was deadlocked at 7 after nine full innings.  Washington ended up
winning it in the 12th inning.  Bill Dahlen doubled.  After an out was
recorded, Fred Raymer stepped in and he delivered a base-hit scoring the run.
Raymer took second on the throw.  Washington finished with 13 hits in the
victory.  

Charlie Case(2-1) was the winner allowing 1 run in 4 innings. Roy
Patterson(0-2) was tagged with the loss in relief.  He allowed 1 run and 4
hits in 3 innings.
