Second baseman John Hummel hit a grand slam and Pat Ragan allowed Bill Dahlen
to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game as the Brooklyn Superbas pulled
out a win over the New York Giants by a score of 13 to 12 at Washington
Park.

The game was won by Brooklyn with a run in the 9th inning. After an out was
recorded, Ed Phelps slapped a one-base hit. Cutshaw was running on the next
pitch and he stole second. Ragan struck out, unable to help the rally.
Herbie Moran followed and he laced a single making Brooklyn the victor and
beginning a joyous home town celebration. Brooklyn had a total of 17 hits
for the game.

Ragan(1-1) lasted until the end allowing 12 runs for the win. Rube
Marquard(5-2) was charged with the loss. He allowed 17 hits and 3 walks in 8
and 2/3 innings.
