The Detroit Tigers won by the slimmest of margins, 6 to 5. Both teams had scored 5 runs after nine full innings. Detroit won the hard fought contest in the 11th inning. Red Smith drew a walk. Zack Wheat followed next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. After another out, Ray Chapman was walked intentionally. Tillie Walker stepped in and he ripped a base-hit making Detroit the winners and sending the 7,800 fans home happy. Both teams finished the game with 12 hits. Ray Fisher(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing no runs. Charlie Smith(1-2) ended up with the loss in relief. He pitched 2 and 1/3 innings allowing 2 hits and 2 walks.
