Chief Bender had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Boston-AL Red Sox defeated the New
York-NL Giants by the score of 6 to 5 at Fenway Park.

Bender had a big day at the plate. He tripled scoring two baserunners in the
2nd inning, stroked a base-hit plating a run in the 4th inning, slapped a
one-base hit in the 6th inning and tripled in the 8th inning. New York-NL
threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.

The win went to Bender(3-4) who allowed 5 runs in 8 innings. Ad Brennan
recorded the save, his 1st. Nap Rucker(2-3) absorbed the loss. He allowed 6
runs and 13 hits in 8 innings.

Despite losing Brian Capsello was optimistic after the game. 'We'll get over
this one. Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't. Any one
of a dozen little things go different, and we come out on top.'
