Phenomenal Smith completed the game without help from the bullpen and Mike
Griffin had 4 hits and scored 4 times as the Baltimore Orioles beat the
Cleveland Blues by a score of 11 to 8.
Griffin was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He tripled in the 2nd inning, doubled
in the 3rd inning, doubled scoring a run in the 5th inning and doubled in the
6th inning. Baltimore totaled 11 hits on the afternoon.
Smith(10-1) lasted until the end allowing 8 runs for the win. George
Pechiney(1-7) took the loss. Baltimore knocked him around a bit, as he gave
up 11 runs in 9 innings.
