In a thriller the St. Louis Cardinals staged a dramatic comeback over the
Philadelphia Phillies winning by a score of 9 to 8 at Robison Field.

St. Louis erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs on
2 base hits.  Patsy Donovan got things going when he reached on an error.
Donovan was running on the next pitch and he stole second.  Mike Donlin then
lined a one-base hit scoring a run.  Jesse Burkett stepped in and he drew a
walk.  After an out was recorded, Dan McGann came up and he delivered a
single making St. Louis the victors to the delight of the home town faithful.
Both teams ended up with 11 hits on the afternoon.  

The winning pitcher was Gus Weyhing(1-1) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an
inning. Bill Bernhard(2-4) was charged with the loss.  He allowed a few too
many baserunners giving up 11 hits and 3 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings.  

Wth the win St. Louis now has a record of 15-13.  With the loss, the
Philadelphia ballclub's record is 17-10.
