Catcher Oscar Stanage had 2 base hits and Jack Coombs completed the game
without help from the bullpen as the Washington Nationals defeated the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics 7 to 1 at Shibe Park.

In the 7th inning Washington scored 6 runs when they came up with 5 base hits.
The key at-bat was by Heinie Zimmerman who deflated the crowd as he caught a
hold of a bad pitch for a Grand Slam homerun.  Washington banged out 9 hits
on the afternoon.  

Coombs(5-1) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. The losing
pitcher was Lefty Leifield(3-2).  The Washington ballclub's record now stands
at 15-10.  With the loss, the Philadelphia-AL ballclub's record is 12-9.
