The Pittsburgh Pirates snapped their 6 game slide and nipped the Cincinnati
Reds 9 to 8 at Crosley Field in a hard fought contest.

Eddie Erautt(2-0) slammed the door shut in an excellent relief performance.
He allowed only 1 hit and no walks in 2 innings reducing his ERA from 4.15 to
3.60. Pittsburgh had 12 hits for the afternoon.

Joe Page got the save, his 2nd. Dick Fowler(3-3) was the losing pitcher in
relief. He was not very effective, surrendering 4 runs in 2 innings.

'Wow. That's about all I can think to say.' said Andy Spector following the
victory. 'If ever a team needed a win, it was us.'
