Jack Taylor allowed Frank Selee to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and left fielder Jimmy Slagle had 2 base hits as the blistering-hot Chicago
Cubs bested the New York Giants 3 to 2 at Polo Grounds.

In the top of the 2nd inning Chicago went on top for good plating an isolated
run on 3 base hits. New York made it exciting in the 9th, but they were
unable to push the needed runs across.

Taylor(7-3) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. Christy
Mathewson(4-4) took the loss. He pitched 9 innings giving up 8 hits and 2
walks.

Chicago extended their winning streak to 7 games. Frank Selee was happy with
his team's performance of late - 'They're playing solid ball right now' he
said. 'Let's hope they can stay focused.'
