Byron Houck was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game at Shibe Park where the Philadelphia Athletics beat the
Washington Nationals by the score of 9 to 7.

Houck(4-1) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win.  He was
reached for 8 hits and 6 walks in 9 innings.  Philadelphia rapped out 9 hits
for the afternoon.  

Bob Groom(2-5) was the loser.  Philadelphia knocked him around a bit, as he
gave up 9 runs in 8 innings.  'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the
win' Houck said.
