The Cincinnati Reds got by the Chicago-NL Cubs at Wrigley Field. The final
score was 9 to 7.

Cincinnati scored 6 runs in the top of the 7th inning with the help of 6 hits.
The biggest moment was provided by Johnny Pesky who silenced the stadium
when he delivered a one-base hit bringing in two baserunners. Chicago-NL had
a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.

The victory was credited to Jim Hearn(2-2) who went 6 innings, allowing 4
runs. Hearn got help from Frank Smith who earned his 4th save. Jim
Konstanty(1-5) absorbed the loss in relief.

Ron Mead was reflective after the loss, 'We should have won this one, we just
made one too many mistakes. Son-of-a-gun, that added a couple more white
hairs on this noggin of mine.'
