Bobby Mathews completed the game without help from the bullpen as the
Providence Grays defeated the Chicago White Stockings by the score of 11 to 7
at Lake Front Park.

Paul Hines provided the offensive punch.  He tripled scoring a run in the 5th
inning and doubled with all three baserunners touching home in the 5th
inning.  Providence managed 15 hits in their victory.  

Mathews(4-4) lasted until the end allowing 7 runs for the win. Larry
Corcoran(7-2) was given the loss.  He got hit hard, allowing 15 hits and 3
walks in 9 innings.
