Guy Hecker tossed a complete game and Pete Browning had 2 base hits and 2 RBI
at St. George Grounds as the Louisville Colonels came back dramatically to
top the New York Metropolitans by the score of 7 to 6.

Louisville had the game winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs on 3
hits. Amos Cross led off and got things going when he reached on an error.
Bill White followed and he stroked a base-hit. Joe Werrick was a strikeout
victim, unable to help out. Joe Strauss stepped in and he doubled, and an
error was also committed, with all three runners coming home. Louisville
rapped out 13 hits for the afternoon.

The win was credited to Hecker(3-3) who went the whole way allowing 6 runs.
Jack Lynch(4-7) was tagged with the loss. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 13 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings.

Jim Hart was all smiles after the game, 'To pull a game out in your last at
bats, is a beautiful feeling - and did you see how quiet it got out there?
You could have heard a pin drop when we took the lead. But, hey, that's what
makes baseball so great - as the great sage Yogi Berra says, 'it's not over
'til its over.'
