The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings. Finally, Philadelphia pulled the game out in the 10th inning. Ben Conroy drew a walk. Conroy took his lead and swiped second. Joe Kappel was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Curt Welch followed, but he was set down on strikes. Blondie Purcell came up to bat and was hit by a pitch. Toad Ramsey then tossed a pitch that the catcher mis-handled. Denny Lyons stepped up next and he was walked intentionally to load the bases. Jack O'Brien then laced a base-hit giving Philadelphia the win as 987 happy fans joyfully celebrated. St. Louis out-hit Philadelphia 10 to 5, but Philadelphia ended up with more runs. The win was credited to Green(4-4) who went the whole way allowing 4 runs. Ramsey(4-6) was given the loss. He gave up 5 hits and 4 walks in 9 and 2/3 innings.
