First baseman Claude Rossman had 4 hits and 3 RBI and Andy Coakley threw a
complete game shutout as the Washington Nationals outscored the
Philadelphia-NL Phillies 7 to 0.

Coakley(4-1) was very good in the win.  He didn't allow much, just 8 hits and
1 walk in 9 innings lowering his ERA from 1.47 to 1.21.  Washington banged
out 16 hits on the afternoon.  

Mordecai Brown(2-2) was given the loss.  He gave up 13 hits and 1 walk in 7
innings.
