The sizzling Cleveland Indians nipped the Chicago-NL Cubs in 10 innings 2 to 1
at Cleveland Stadium in a hard fought contest.
Both teams had scored 1 runs after nine full innings. Cleveland won it in the
10th inning. Chico Carrasquel drew a walk. Mike Fornieles stepped into the
batter's box and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. George Kell then doubled
making Cleveland the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration.
Chicago-NL had 7 hits in the game while Cleveland had 3, but Cleveland had
the more timely hits.
Fornieles(1-1) got the win allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning. Joe
Dobson(2-1) took the loss in relief. He allowed 1 run and 1 hit in 1/3 of an
