Rebel Oakes ripped 2 homeruns and had 7 RBI as the Detroit Tigers topped the Washington Nationals in 10 innings by a score of 13 to 12 at Bennett Park. The score was knotted at 12 after nine innings. Finally, Detroit pulled the game out in the 10th inning. After two were out Zack Wheat reached on an error. Ed Konetchy stepped into the batter's box and he slapped a one-base hit resulting in a mighty exciting win for Detroit and the 8,025 home town fans in attendance. Both teams totaled 18 hits on the afternoon. Earl Hamilton(4-3) got the win allowing no runs in 2 innings. Gene Krapp(2-2) ended up with the loss in relief. He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 1 and 1/3 innings and not allowing an earned run. 'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' Jim Murphy sighed. 'That win feels like a tall, cool drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert lately.'
