The Philadelphia-AL Athletics edged the Boston-AL Red Sox at Shibe Park by the
score of 9 to 8.

Philadelphia-AL started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their
half of the first when they came up with 3 runs on 2 hits.  Boston-AL had a
chance in the 9th but they came up short.  

The victory was credited to Art Fromme(4-5) who went 8 innings, allowing 6
runs. Sandy Burk recorded his 4th save.  Doc Crandall(2-1) was the losing
pitcher.  He was knocked around by Philadelphia-AL, allowing 7 hits and 2
walks in 3 innings.  

'We won because we did the little things right.' Andy Spector said after the
game.  'This is why we practice things over and over and over, so when we get
in close games we don't make mistakes.'
