Left fielder Minnie Minoso had 3 base hits at Forbes Field where the New
York-AL Yankees beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6 to 5.

Pittsburgh fell behind quickly as the New York-AL offense came through in the
first inning scoring 4 runners on 6 hits.  The highlight belonged to Ralph
Kiner who deflated the crowd as he ripped a single scoring two baserunners.
Pittsburgh had 15 hits in the game while New York-AL had 12, but New York-AL
had the more timely hits.  

The winning pitcher was Robin Roberts(3-2) who allowed 3 runs in 7 and 2/3
innings. Ted Wilks recorded the save, his 2nd.  The loss was charged to Ed
Lopat(2-4).  New York-AL knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 5 runs in 4
innings.
