Jim Devlin was able to finish what he started and was credited with a complete
game and Jumbo Latham had 5 hits and 3 RBI as the Louisville Grays topped the
St. Louis Brown Stockings in 18 innings by a score of 13 to 12 at Baseball
Park.

The game was deadlocked at 6 after nine full innings.  Finally, Louisville
pulled the game out in the 18th inning.  After an out was recorded, George
Hall lashed a single.  Latham stepped up next and he reached on an error.
After another out, Devlin then reached on an error giving Louisville the
victory and sending the 363 home-town fans home happy.  Louisville bats were
hot in the 15th inning which saw them plate 3 runs on 4 hits.  It was roller
coaster of a game as the lead change hands 7 times.  

Devlin(6-2) lasted until the end allowing 12 runs for the win. The losing
pitcher was Joe Battin(0-1) in relief.  He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 12 hits and 2 walks in 9 and 2/3 innings.
