Larry Corcoran completed the game without help from the bullpen and King Kelly
had 4 hits and 5 RBI as the Chicago White Stockings defeated the Detroit
Wolverines by a score of 8 to 6 at Lake Front Park.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Kelly. He stroked a single which brought home a run in the 1st
inning, banged out a one-base hit resulting in a run in the 3rd inning,
clubbed a two-run home run in the 5th inning and ripped a base-hit knocking
in a run in the 7th inning. Detroit tried unsuccessfully to come back in the
9th.

The winning pitcher was Corcoran(8-4) who allowed 6 runs for the game. Stump
Weidman(2-8) suffered the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 13 hits and
2 walks in 8 innings.

Chicago now has a record of 13-8. Jack Chapman was unhappy with his club's
recent performance. 'We can't keep losing games' he said. 'It gets to be
embarrassing after a while.'
