Tully Sparks went the distance as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the
Boston Beaneaters by a score of 3 to 1 at South End Grounds.

Philadelphia came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs
using 3 hits.  After two were out John Titus got things going when he
doubled.  Sherry Magee followed and he was walked intentionally.  Kitty
Bransfield then doubled driving in two more baserunners.  Philadelphia
managed only 5 hits on the afternoon.  

The win went to Sparks(3-2) who allowed 1 run in the game. The losing pitcher
was Kaiser Wilhelm(2-4).  He pitched 8 and 2/3 innings allowing 5 hits and 3
walks.
