Shortstop Lou Boudreau ripped 2 homeruns and Fred Hutchinson pitched 6 strong
innings as the red-hot Boston Red Sox bested the Philadelphia Phillies 3 to 1
at Shibe Park.

Boudreau led the offense for Boston.  He lashed a single in the 3rd inning,
lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 5th inning and ripped a solo home run
in the 8th inning.  Philadelphia was out-hit by Boston, 11 hits to 2.

Tommy Byrne(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 3 innings. Curt
Simmons(0-5) was the losing pitcher.  Boston won for the 7th straight time.
'I'm glad to get the win', Byrne said.  'We've got some good momentum going
now.'
