Third baseman Bobby Adams had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Don Newcombe went the
distance as the Washington Nationals defeated the Philadelphia-AL Athletics
11 to 7 at Griffith Stadium.

Washington scored 5 runs in the 5th inning when they had 5 base hits.  They
would hold up as the winning runs.  Washington had 16 hits for the afternoon.

The winning pitcher was Newcombe(3-4) who allowed 7 runs for the game. Saul
Rogovin(5-2) ended up with the loss.  He was knocked around pretty good,
giving up 10 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.
