Sal Maglie pitched a complete game as the Chicago-NL Cubs outscored the
Brooklyn Dodgers 6 to 3.

Chicago-NL scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 8th inning with 3 runs
on 3 hits. Ernie Banks began the Chicago-NL spurt when he lofted a
solo-blast 'downtown'. After an out was recorded, Bill Sarni came up and he
stroked a one-base hit. Maglie then laid down a sacrifice bunt. Eddie
Mathews followed next and he cracked a two-run shot. The Brooklyn batters
didn't put up a fight in the bottom of the 9th.

Maglie(5-1) lasted until the end allowing 3 runs for the win. Art Fowler(2-1)
ended up with the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 8 hits in 7 and 2/3 innings.
