Second baseman Mike McGeary had 4 hits and 3 RBI and George Bradley had a
complete game as the St. Louis Brown Stockings defeated the Philadelphia
Athletics by a score of 8 to 6 at Jefferson St Grounds.

Philadelphia fell behind quickly as the St. Louis offense came through in the
first inning scoring 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits.  After an out was
recorded, John Clapp started the rally when he doubled.  McGeary stepped into
the batter's box and he slapped a base-hit, and an error was also committed,
knocking in a run.  Lip Pike then hit a deep fly scoring the final run of the
inning.  St. Louis banged out 15 hits on the afternoon.  

The win went to Bradley(12-4) who allowed 6 runs in the game. George
Zettlein(1-4) was given the loss.  He pitched 9 innings and surrendered 15
hits and 1 walk.
