Stump Weidman went the distance and first baseman Milt Scott connected with a
'big fly' as the Detroit Wolverines defeated the Chicago White Stockings by a
score of 10 to 8 at Lake Front Park.

Chicago was unable to climb back into it after Detroit went ahead for good in
the 7th inning plating 3 runs utilizing 3 base hits. Ned Hanlon led off and
started the attack as he lashed a single. Charlie Bennett came to the plate
and reached on an error. Bill Geiss then slapped a one-base hit bringing in
a run. Fred Goldsmith then threw one that got by the catcher for a passed
ball bringing in another run. Scott got his turn next, but he was a
strikeout victim. Weidman kept things alive and doubled scoring the final
run of the inning. The score went back-and-forth with the lead changing 5
times.

Weidman(3-8) got the victory, allowing 8 runs for the game. Goldsmith(4-4)
ended up with the loss. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 10 runs
in 9 innings.
