Tom Lovett pitched a complete game as the Boston Beaneaters outscored the
Cincinnati Reds 10 to 8.

Boston took the lead for good in the 7th inning as they scored 3 runs on 3
base hits. Cincinnati scored in 5 different innings, but their shaky
pitching kept them from victory.

The victory went to Lovett(4-2) who went the distance allowing 8 runs. Tom
Parrott(6-7) took the loss. He was unable to control the Boston offense and
allowed 11 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings.

'He gutted it out' Frank Selee said of Lovett. 'I was very impressed by his
tenacity.'
