Pete Alexander took a no-hitter into the 8th inning at Redland Field as the
New York-NL Giants came back dramatically to top the Cincinnati Reds by the
score of 3 to 2.

New York-NL erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 2
runs on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Bill Rariden opened up the rally
as he doubled. One out later, Bob Bescher stepped in and he drew a walk.
Miller Huggins then doubled, and an error was also committed, knocking home
two runners. The game was a scoreless duel until the 8th inning.

The win went to Alexander(5-7) who allowed 2 runs in 8 innings. The
right-handed Alexander lost his chance for a no-hitter when Joe Tinker
tripled with nobody out in the 8th inning. Alexander got help from Nap
Rucker who was credited with his 2nd save. Babe Adams(2-4) was the losing
pitcher in relief. He surrendered 2 hits and 1 walk in 1 inning.

'The only way this one could have been better', said Alexander, 'was if we had
played it at home.'
